Jonny Young Four

Jonny Young Four, was a British country music band from the United Kingdom, formed by lead vocalist Jonny Young. The name comes from the quartet formed by Jonny Young and Dave Crane as electric guitarist, Luce Langridge as drummer, and Bob Gibbs as bassist.

They began in the late 1960s, performing their distinctive style of country music on "Country Style" radio, featuring well-known country music singers.

In 1969, they released their first 45 single, "Dreaming Country" and "Always Thinking of You."

In 1968, Jonny Young 4 was involved in the tragic death of bassist Bob Gibbs in a car accident, leaving the three members searching for a replacement.

In 1970 bassist Dave Coomber joined and the quartet was active again, releasing their 2 45 singles Rocky Top and Start Anew, Dave also called "Cecil" remained in the group throughout the band's history, in 1972 they released their first LP Country Pride and continued their music through radio and the 1972 London Country Music Festival until its resolution in 1974 when Dave Crane left the band.

In 1975, Jonny Young, along with two members Luce Langridge and Coomber, formed "The Jonny Young Band" with Collin Towns and released an LP titled "Young's Brew". 

He remained with the band until 1976.

 Jonny Young's last recorded performance was ina concert at a UK event like Jonny Young Band Wagon Weels at 1992.

Add: The band achieved national and European acclaim during the festival. On tours in Britain and Europe, they appeared with US and continental artists such as Slim Whitman, George Hamilton IV, Hank Locklin, Don Gibson, and Australian country singer Lee Conway.

They also won the Billboard and Record Mirror awards for best UK country group three years in a row.

There's currently a YouTube channel run by Dave Crane called JonnyYoung4 with excerpts and tracks, mostly from the radio stations where their recordings were heard across the UK.
